Wow, if you thought the the pace was going to slow down, that is not the case for episode 3. This episode is definitely setting up a lot of what is to come. It also showed us strategy in an unique way through the competition and oh it also brought us #ClapGate2020. If you haven't watched the episode it is down below, let's begin! I love how the episodes begins with Kadia being clueless as heck which eventually results to her winning the competition. The irony of it all is fantastic. A lot of the moves in the challenge made a lot of sense but there were definitely some shocking moments that left my mouth on the floor. First, Jackie moving, Madyson. I was like girl! GIRL! Then Kadia considers moving Jase, which I can guess and imagine she was thinking she could do that thinking he wouldn't get mad but that would have been reckless. They are both returnees, and she went out of the way to save him twice last round. We start getting to the touch subject portion and this is where everything starts to get messy. Derrick gets voted as the biggest threat and this gets a clear reaction from him. With everything happening last round, I'm surprised he's surprised. Sabrina and Connor's reaction had me cracking up because Sabrina is like Connor, you already moved me, and HE DIDN'T. Derrick gets voted again as the person with the most alliances. Which is definitely making the target brighter and brighter. The final part of the challenge is where people have to reveal what they answered for a question, the first two gets to move someone. We love a good challenge expose. Shockingly Jase puts Derrick as his closest ally and Derrick puts Josh which leads to a lot of conflict for the rest of the challenge. Kadia was also disappointed that Jase didn't put her as his closest ally . Shane has the right strategy to not answer these. He doesn't need to expose his hand this quickly. Derrick plans on moving Jase, after Jase literally just called him his closest ally. Derrick, WHAT ARE YOU DOING! Kadia considering moving Jase is also like what? Either of the returnees winning is good for either of them. Jackie has a point when she says in a confessional that Derrick saved her yet also answered she didn't deserve to be there. This challenge was very damaging for Derrick, he was already a huge target, and he should have laid low but because he was considered a huge target he had to go for it and therefore causing even more damage. No matter what in this situation it's a lose, lose for Derrick. If he loses he could be eliminated and to win he has to make the target even bigger on him. We get to the final question, Kadia, answers Madyson. Madyson is watching and is hurt by this. Luke also had the same answer. Sabrina sets up perfectly what is about to happen, "The drama is about to begin." Madyson hopefully won't take this to heart and will just let it fly. Derrick, eliminates Luke which means it comes down to Kadia. You would think Kadia would just throw Derrick's block in the suitcase and just win the challenge. Derrick, actively pushes for Kadia to move her own block. Essentially giving Derrick the win. We get confessionals of people reacting to Derrick campaigning, its brought up by three players that he cannot be trusted because he took the power card last round. I really thought for a hot second she was going to do it, but smartly she eliminates Derrick and takes the win. Derrick was so close and I give him a lot of credit, it was brilliant in his part. This leads us to #ClapGate2020. Kadia wins the challenge which results in celebration and applause, mostly because Kadia won, not because Derrick lost. Luke definitely clapped because Derrick lost but if you look at it from Luke's perspective, this is a massive victory for him, Luke would have been easily on the bottom had Derrick won. Derrick starts calling out who clapped and who didn't. Like, mostly everybody did because Kadia won. Derrick needed to just lay low especially because more than likely Kadia was not going to place him low. He would have been in an okay position but this is solidifying him as public enemy number one if he wasn't already. This was hands down one of the most entertaining episodes with lots of comedy, intentional and unintentional. There wasn't much strategy or good strategy this episode. The confessionals and drama were so good. My MVP is Connor. He was so funny and did not paint many enemies at all besides possibly Sabrina, but it came off as playful. Connor really had me in tears throughout the episode and you need that comedy when the drama is so intense. In conclusion, this episode is one of the best so far but I know there is even better to come still. Again my only critique would be pacing, while I think without the final 10 minutes this episode would have been slow. It's also important to keep in mind, these aren't you're CBS editors, it wasn't bad and I enjoyed it a lot, but if I am giving my honest, loving critique, I have to include some of the negatives which right now is the pacing. It's hard and I think for the most part it worked, and I am excited to see how this plays out. The cast has been incredible and I think there are several strong contenders to take the crown.
